new year, new posts, new actions.

This year 2013 is going to be a big year for us. So much is happening, and I’m determined to blog every step of the way. Since we’ve moved from San Diego, I’ve found it a lot harder to write. The main reason being that when we lived in San Diego, Noah slept in his own room at the end of the hall and I woke up around 4:30 with Chris and had a solid two hours before the kids awoke just for myself. Here, isn’t the same, which has made blogging and me time hard. However, with so much happening I’m determined to get back to it with my blogging and hoping to write a few times a week.

I’m also including a new weekly post with Photoshop. Doing this really helps me to use my big camera more with the kids. A while back I created several tutorials (that can be found on my photography page… which also needs updating as I have a new camera and lens). Instead of tutorials, I’ve basically used what I normally layer and do and converted them into actions. You’ve probably seen actions, and I’ve even mentioned some sites on my blog before. An action isn’t unique. It is simply edits that are done to a photograph and recorded so it can be used again, but is less time consuming. Instead following my tutorial edits yourself, if you have photoshop then all you have to do is download and load them.

The first set that I’ve put together includes a blemish remover, a creamy colorizing, and a sharpening tool. The sharpening tool is set at 20% opacity.  You can simply adjust this depending on the size of your photo. I’ve included three before and after photos, so you can see how they work.

Cami and Sydney Christmas Morning: Before christmas girls before

: After christmas girls after

Cursive: Before cursive before

Cursive: After cursive after

Dying Playsilks: Before playsilk dying after

Dying Playsilks: After playsilk dying after

To download, simply click this link: that colorful first set.
You can read here how to load your actions.

*Note: If you downloaded earlier for Photoshop Elements, you probably only got one action. I’ve separated each into a different set, so you can now load all three.

I’ll be posting a new action every week, and close to our travel date I’m thinking about selling a set of 10 actions that I’m putting together. It definitely won’t be too costly, so stay tuned.
