Although Camille’s birthday was this past friday, we’ve had an extended celebration which started with this first picture before daddy left.
Her second was at school, I don’t have a picture but they kids drew a sun outside with chalk and Cami walked around the sun six times. Each time Cami circled around the sun, the kids would say “What did you do when you were one (two, etc.)?” Cami would think of something a one year old did and then she would start her next walk around the sun. When she reached six, they asked her what she was going to do now that she is six. Her answer: “become a photographer.” Pictures coming on that!
Her third was Friday night, her actual birthday with me, Noah, Aunt Beka and Tank (Beka’s little pug).
The last party we had for her was Saturday afternoon at a little gym with friends.
What a lot of celebrating, but a lot of fun. I kinda liked the extended time because I noticed she really appreciated each gift she received. Saturday, after her gym party Cami said with a smile on her face: “I’m exhausted.” I echo those sentiments for sure! I think next year we’ll shoot for one celebration.
I could tell she was happy and she knew how very loved she is, and that’s what birthdays are about, right?!
So thankful for the past six years with my compassionate, loving, independent Sweet Camille.

Oh my goodness, I love to hear how you celebrate your sweet daughters birthday. Those extended celebrations are so beautiful, and just the best way to really enjoy such a special time of year. I always struggle with the best ways to remember my son’s birth, as so often I just want to take a long hike and talk about how happy I am that I had them, but really, what 9 or 7 year old wants to do that? I love the chalk drawing idea, and we may have to add that in to our traditions. Happy Birthday to Camille, and happy Birth Day to you too Mama!
