My monthly post on Africa are really one of my favorite to write. I love sharing about links I’ve found that support families in Africa, adoption and African mother’s to stay with their babies.
Andrea is the shop owner of Ziezo Designs and lives with her family in Kenya. She and I are both part of the Natural Kids Team on etsy, which you can see is linked on in my sidebar. She sent these gorgeous aprons to Camille and Noah that they just love.
She also sent them a postcard that Noah has carried around with him, identifying the animals that live in the country of his little sister. Camille absolutely adores her apron, so much that she wrapped it in her purse and took it to play at our friend’s house the other day!
Fashion Love Africa.
For Christmas, friends gave Chris and I this beautiful bag. I absolutely love it! These bags are hand knitted, constructed from post consumer plastic bags gathered and woven by female residents living in the garbage slum of Nakuru, Kenya. Each bag is purchased directly from the woman who constructed it, allowing her a consistent source of income.
I currently use this bag for Cami’s swim lessons, since its plastic it works perfect to hold wet towels and suit after the lesson is over. This bag will be getting tons of use in the summer, I can’t wait.
And finally, I started following SoleHope on twitter this week, and read their statement and vision. Sole Hope’s mission is to put close toes shoes on African Children one pair at a time. You can read more about them here, but right now you can actually vote for them to receive $50,000 to help with their cause. Simply click here and vote each day!
