snow globes

by erin on December 17, 2010

We started with a jar and a 50 cent snowman. We added corn syrup (2 tablespoons)
Added water to almost the top and then… Poured glitter (the most important part) and topped the jar off with water. Using super glue we sealed the lid. Loved it so much we made two.In this one, the snowman hit a blizzard, aka half the jar of glitter.  What did we sing while making this? Frosty the Snowman of course. :-)

I used to make these when I was a kid. I used plumber’s glue. Is super glue better?

I don’t think its better Liz. I saw about a million different suggestions for glue out there. We tried the glue gun at first but the water seemed to peel it off. So we super-glued it. I think the key is to have a lid with a tight seal. Plummer’s glue sounds like a great idea.

My girls would love this. They love snow globes! I bet these are a little more sturdy than your average store snow globe (we’ve broken a few), and the best part is they made it themselves!
