watercolor birthday banner

by erin on September 22, 2010

As I mentioned before. The kids are always painting. Noah’s really starting to get into it . Camille yesterday told my friend “I’m an artist”, when she was given a pack of drawing goodies for her birthday. We use watercolors and both of them blend the colors so beautifully. I love it. So for Camille’s birthday I decided I would use a few artful sheets to create a birthday banner.

Here is a photo of my supplies:

I used:
• 3 sheets of 11X15 inch painted watercolor paper (the two sheets were minus one letter)
• a deckle ruler (which you don’t have to have, you could just fold and tear)
• 1 inch wide silk ribbon (that I dyed)
• a hole punch
• a marker

I tore the paper in half and then in thirds. The actual size of each rectangle is about 7 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches. I then drew a letter on each piece of torn paper. After that I punched two holes on the top of the piece of paper like this:

It really turned into a beautiful birthday banner for my sweet Camille.

That is a very cool banner indeed.

We did watercolors today in my kindergarten class and I thought of you.

That is a beautiful banner! Great idea. That reminds me that I’m all out of watercolor paper right now….must get more.

Happy belated birthday, sweet girl!
(I would have guessed she was turning 5! Realizing mine just turned 6 seems so big!)
Your banner is perfect! I love its beautiful simplicity!

So simple and so beautiful

Oddly enough my two had the watercolors out today, so I might save some of the paintings rather than posting them all off to grandparents!
