the fairy party

We did have a small party for Cami with her friends. It was a fairy theme, and though we invited a couple boys, it just so happened that they weren’t able to make it and we had some special little girls that arrived. I designed the layout and wrapping of the invites. The poem on the front  I found online & changed to make it work for us (and still rhyme). Here is what it said:
Not far away in a magical fairy home,
With butterflies, pixies and a garden gnome.
With lady-birds, dragonflies & flowers galore,
Toadstools & mushrooms and so much more.

Creep into the garden and you will see,
Fairy Camille Hiding under a tree.
Very soon this fairy will be turning four,
And can hardly wait for you to knock on the door!

Fly on over to our house the 18th of September,
With the sun at 11:30 try to remember.
For yummy food and fairy games to play,
Its sure to be a magical day!

Come dressed as a fairy or butterfly.
A lady-bird, pixie or dragonfl
y.

For all the fairies I created a silk fairy wand and purchased all different baskets at a couple thrift shops.
The thrifted baskets were for a little scavenger hunt we had in our front yard with acorns, pinecones, butterflies and seashells hidden. All fairy house making materials as inspired by “Fairy Houses”, a book that Cami loves reading right now.  After the hunt (and a little down time for the fairy of the hour) the girls decorated, ate and sang to Camille. I wish I had been better at taking pictures of all the before stuff (the sandwiches cut as acorns & the stack of cupcakes I worked really hard to ice), but sometimes I can just get distracted and forget to photo. It was a special day for Camille and she made sure to tell us how special she felt when we put her down for a nap that afternoon (what a sweetie).

  1. SO sweet! What a great looking party. I’ll have to remember the idea of making the fairy wand. Better than those cheap-o plastic ones at the party store. I love Cami’s fairy wings! I bought a bunch of blue fabric to make Sarah some blue butterfly wings, but I’m still trying to figure out in my head how to cover our old ones. Sarah wants to be a Blue Morpho Butterfly so our pink and purple wings just don’t cut it. It’s driving me insane! I have no idea what to do!
