a magical celebration

We celebrated Camille’s birthday yesterday taking her out to dinner and to the park. Her restaurant of choice: The Hamburger Factory. I don’t know what Cami likes this place so much. Perhaps because of the old time feel or the fact that there is absolutely nothing nutritious about her meal. Whatever the reason, every time we are there she simply devours her food. While we were there we let her bring in one gift to open. Here are some of the contents of some little figures I had been working on for her. These are my best little wooden cut-outs by far. I’ve figured out that poplar wood is a very great wood and then I currently am using linseed oil and then beeswax to finish them. There was also the cutest little doll quilt and pillow in this gift as that I did a trade for. I’ll share more about that next week. Anyways, she truly loved them. One way that I knew is that she asked Chris if he would switch spots and let me sit next to her. That NEVER happens. She always wants to sit by her daddy. I happily obliged.
Next we headed over to the park where we all shared cupcakes. Camille had her fill of the “pinkalicious” icing and was ready to open her gifts. It was the perfect setting. Noah ran around like crazy, barely eating a bite of cupcake & happily squealing watching Cami open her presents. She got all kinds of wonderful gifts from family including books, mosaic making & cards. I had to include the picture of the card my grandpa, Poppy Bob, sent her. Its has a bunch of little fairies and it says Great-Granddaughter on it. What a perfect card. Towards the end was the great reveal of what Chris has been working on for her. A fairy tree house. She just loved it. I’ll try to post a better picture of it later showing the swing and stairs.  The picture I have posted here is her doing her happy dance. She does it when she gets really excited. Its so funny. The little furniture in there was from her Aunt Katie, Uncle Brent & cousins. I can’t being to say how thankful for Chris and his love for the kids and I. He got really excited making this even when he has such a crazy work schedule. He spent so much time working on it…. … all for a single hug!

Wow- I didn’t really realize that Chris was so talented. You guys are just going to have to open your own toy shop one of these days. I’d take those adorable things you made over the cheap toy plasticrap any day! :)
