playdough for fun

by erin on July 26, 2010

We made to new batches of playdough this weekend following the recipe at Create Kids Crafts that adds koolaid for coloring. We added an extra packet each to really saturate the coloring. What I like about these particular directions is they mix all the dry first before mixing lukewarm water over low heat (vs. adding the dry mixture to boiling water). This really gives Cami a chance to have her hands in there.New colors and playdough brought along with it fresh inspiration and a lot of fun including lots of animal footprints.

Homeade playdough with koolaid is the best! Don’t do what I did though and add glitter. Doesn’t work. It just leaves glitter behind.

haha, Chris has a no glitter rule in the house. He doesn’t like the stuff one bit. :-)

Homemade playdough is the best. I have a bag in the pantry that is made with wheat flour (it’s all we have) and mixed in some almond extract. It’s lovely.

But a boring color, according to The Girl.

We love homemade play dough! It just feels and smells so much better than the store bought kind. We need to make up a new batch, thanks for this!

I am totally going to make my own playdough, as soon as my Elizabeth gets big enough. I had never thought of kool-aid for coloring though.
