kitchen improvising & updates

by tinytwistcreative on July 27, 2010

Our kitchen here doesn’t hold near as much as the previous house we had did. Pots and pans are falling out of the cabinets all the time and there isn’t enough spaces to hold my spices. So we improvised & this table here has made all the difference. My parents gave us this table a while ago and we’ve used it as a craft table. Now its my counter space for cooking and baking, especially with the kids. It holds kitchen towels, napkins, fruit, bread, some spices and now our pots & pans. Chris created a pot rack on the bottom of this table & its kept the kitchen so much more organized and clean. He’s pretty smart like that.

And on the subject of organization, I’ve added some links at the top of my page. I haven’t updated them all, I’ll let you know when I do. The only one that has something in it right now is the mouth of babes, which are some quotes from Cami & Noah that I’m keeping a list of. I’ve realized recently that they say so many cute and memorable things and I forget them. What I wrote was half of what I wanted to, cause I’ve already forgotten. This is my attempt to not forget.

Hey Erin! I’m on break at work (blog hopping from the iMac!) Love that idea, we have the same table in our kitchen, but we sit at it, so it wouldn’t work for us. We are fortunate to have a lot of storage in our kitchen. But I love innovative ideas of any kind!

That is so brilliant!! My husband and I’ve been talking about getting a pot rack for above our counter but holy cow that’s a fantastic idea and probably didn’t cost too much, huh?

I, too, thought of a beautiful magazine spread when I saw the picture. Don’t you just get such a glow of satisfaction when things are organized in such a way that it is both useful and beautiful?

My mom used to have a tupperware cabinet and every time it was opened they would all fall out on top of you. Now she keeps her tupperware (and her pots!) in a drawer.

I went by those thrift shops and they were mediocre. I’m kind of disappointed, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled for others!

Beautiful! I wonder how it would look to hang out pots and pans under our actual table? We could sure use the extra space too!

Erin- this is such a great idea! Love it. Something to keep in mind with our many future moves to new homes and different living spaces ;)

I love (LOVE) this idea! That table looks so amazing. It must be a joy to cook in your kitchen.

And — including a listing of all your children’s quotes is such a great idea. It’s why we blog — to remember these little tidbits of our days, so later on the memory will be that much clearer. (This is one of those — why didn’t I think of that — ideas).

Looks amazing! We hang all our pots and pans from beautiful beam that runs through the middle of our kitchen, but its a bit high for a shorty like me, I much prefer this idea, Thanks!

I love this thought–but do the kids really let them just hang there??
