tissue paper stained glass

by erin on May 20, 2010

The other day I went to Natural Kids blog and found this great tutorial for a stained glass craft. After we all had dinner together, Cami’s asked “what we going to do?” So I pulled up the instructions for this & here are a few pictures of our fun family time together.
The homemade paste.

Sticking torn pieces of paper.

Focused.

Fun.

The end result. It actually looks quite pretty and I’m not sure if this photo shows that because its been pretty overcast here the past few days.

I loved it because it was fun, easy & we had all the stuff on hand. The tissue paper was actually old tissue paper from baby showers when both the kids were born, the wax paper I think I’ve had since we first got married & the corn starch paste was easy to make.  A great little family activity. By the way, Noah did eat quite a bit of that paste and since it was only corn starch and water there was no need to worry.

I do a version of this with my kindergartners. It is fun and really very pretty.

A good craft to do with my twosome over the summer break.

I love making art with the kiddos using only things we have on hand…maybe this is what I’ve been saving bits of tissue paper for.

I’ve heard you can make sidewalk paint with equal parts cornstarch and water (and a little food coloring thrown in). This reminded me of that.

hey Kate, I did see a bunch of paint recipes when I was looking at the paste recipe. Here’s a really good link for a bunch that you use cornstarch with:
