the weekend

Last week was a bit of a long week for us here without Chris. He wasn’t underway or anything like that. Work has just been busy and a lot of nights he couldn’t come home and if he came home the kids would be sleeping. Saturday he ended up getting off  and we decided to spend the whole day at home, for pure family time. Saturday morning kicked off with coffee, milk, toast & some wet felting! In my earlier post about wet felting, I had mentioned making eggs for Cami’s kitchen.  We decided to go ahead and make those eggs with Chris, following resurrection fern’s tutorial. We all had so much fun, and so many laughs as Noah was flipping soapy water all over the place. I ended up giving him some scrap roving, so that he could dip it if he like. The tutorial showed how to create hollow eggs & I thought that was just perfect for Cami to store the little trinkets that she loves. The only thing I added was a button. Our felting still needs a bit of work to perfect. Probably should do a little more hot & cold water dipping to make them a bit stronger and more shaped, but this is how they turned out:

The afternoon the kids spent in the new pool, while daddy watched, cheered, enjoyed his beer & I made french bread pizza for dinner. It was a pretty perfect day, and made him going back into work Sunday a lot easier after having the “us” time I had missed from the week.

I’m glad you were able to squeeze in some “us” time. It does make a difference…

I’m also glad you were able to defeat the 10 piles of laundry. Go you!

So glad that the kids got some daddy time. must be difficult for daddy too when he can’t be home with the kiddos. BTW-thanks for finding all these great projects. My daughter would LOVE these little hollow eggs!

That does sound like the perfect day! Where did you get that pool? I can’t find little plastic pools anywhere and I want to get one for Adam and me to lounge in.

We got it at Walmart in the garden section. They have smaller ones too, more Adam’s size. :-)
